Southwire Portable Power Stations

Our trailer does not have an inverter, so when we are not plugged in (which is 99% of the time), we are not able to power any of our devices; we don’t have any 12V outlets or USB outlets and without an inverter, we do not have AC power either. Although we do have a small Firman generator, we prefer not to have to run it when we are trying to enjoy the peace and quiet of the great outdoors. That is where the Southwire Portable Power Stations come in.

We spent some time camping in the Rio Grande National Forest last week, and we were able to do this comfortably without a generator. With our Southwire Power Stations, we ran our 12V Dometic CFX3 75 Dual Zone Cooler (which is Tami’s new favorite item behind the Berkey, of course), a portable water pump for an outdoor sink, coffee pot, electric blanket (it got down to 30 degrees at night), 3-quart Instant Pot, and more. It was also nice to be able to keep everything charged up, like our phones, LED lights, camera batteries, Southwire headlamps (a must-have when you are boondocking), and our Bluetooth speaker. The Dometic Compact Camp Table was the perfect place for Tami’s outdoor kitchen as well, and she delivered many great meals all cooked without a generator.

There are four different models of the Southwire Portable Power Stations ranging from 200 to 1000 watts of output power for your devices. They are all lithium-ion batteries and have built-in inverters. We used the smaller 200 and 300 models for charging our phones, camera batteries, watches, and LED lights and used the larger 500 and 1100 models for our higher wattage items like the coffee pot, electric griddle, and Instant Pot. Of course, it all could have been done with the 1100 model since it has more than enough outlets for all of that, but we wanted to test all the models to learn more so we could share our experience with you guys.
