EASY TO INSTALL! You can even have a install phone calls to walk you through the install process in real time!
Now you can run your RV air conditioner(s) with minimal start-up power, even 2 units on a 30 amp pedestal! SoftStart RV is designed to connect directly to the compressor motor and reduce the power surge that occurs on startup. SoftStartRV™ gradually increases this power until the compressor is running, creating a very smooth start that reduces the peak current by 50 to 70% or more. An RV rooftop 16000 BTU, 120-volt compressor can now start with under 20 amps of current.
With SoftStart RV you can:
- Run two air conditioners on a 30 amp hookup
- Run one air conditioner using only a small portable generator
- Run one air conditioner on a 20 amp household hookup
- Run one or two air conditioners using your onboard inverter system
SoftStartRV is specially designed, engineered and tested for all RVs: Motorhomes, Fifth wheels, campers, travel trailers, toy haulers, truck campers, vans, and tiny trailers.
Other benefits include:
- No more “thumps” and “trailer shaking” in the quiet of the night as the compressor kicks in.
- Reduces and eliminates that clunking compressor start-up noise… Everyone sleeps cool, quiet and restful.
- Reduces startup power demand by an amazing 70%. It’s that good!
- Small at just 6”x3”x3” and weighs just under 2 pounds.

Unit works great.
I found SoftStart's customer support to be awesome. I was installing on a Saturday afternoon and after I got it installed the Ac would not work properly, so I placed a call to their customer support line expecting a call back the following Monday. About an hour later I get a call from John bowman a SoftStarRv tech. First of all I could not I believe I would actually get a call back on a Saturday afternoon. John patiently review my wiring procedures and pointed out how I had hooked up one of the wires incorrectly.
Now I can hardly hear the compressor come on and look forward to a long lasting AC unit. Thank you John for all your help.
This was very easy to install and works as advertised. Between Eric’s video and SoftStart’s wiring diagram, I was very confident in tackling the installation. Thank you for all your assistance!

Although free shipping is promised to Canada they neglect to mention the $125 fee to have it delivered. Would have been cheaper to either go through Amazon, the RV dealerships or get their competition. Not recommended.

Just installed on our trailer we are running ac on a 15 amp gfci plug, ac running and not tripping it , and very easy to install
I was concerned about installing this as I have minimal knowledge on electrical components. My 2 air conditioners are different as well, so the wiring was different. What's a run capacitor? What's a start capacitor? In summary, lots of worrying for nothing. I couldn't find the instructions for one of my AC's. I sent SoftStartRV a pic of the AC wiring schematic and they sent me customized directions within days. Also, watch Eric's video on installing one of these devices and it's just that easy. I had to be up there anyway to clean the AC unit. I spent more time on cleaning than I did installing this device.
Just got done with my installation, it was as advertised. Danny provided s schematic for my GE air conditioner, the hardest part was finding a mounting spot, but even that wasn't too hard. Now it will start and run on a 2000 watt Genset. Great product, great support, highly recommend!
Install was easy, and works as advertised. A new must have from TechnoRV, thanks.
I have had the SoftStart RV on two Dometic Brisk II units installed for 9 months now. I am not an electrician but I installed it by myself. I had to get assistance from the Tech Support team, which ended up that my capacitor was bad, so I replaced it and am good to go. I submitted a ticket, they emailed me back, walked thru the wiring to verify it is set up correctly, and did the troubleshooting. .
My first thought about this product was the price, but i wanted to be able to run two AC units with my Predator Inverter generator. I figured that I would see how they work.
These are amazing, I can run one AC with a 2000w inverter, or both units with my 3500w generator. Running two units full blast does get close to max power on the generator, but it turn one a bit less cool, this only happens in the heat of the summer.
These work extremely well, worth the cost for sure, not even a doubt in my mind.
